Business Breakfast – "Navigating In Turbulent Times"
On February the 6th 2009 we organized a conference at The Polish Business Roundtable Club in Warsaw concerning ways of counteracting negative effects of the economic crisis in Poland and abroad.
The main aim of the conference was to show diverse solutions that we recommend to our clients facing a difficult market situation. Taking appropriate actions, restructuring and implementing several optimization initiatives is a key factor that allows companies to get through the economic slowdown.
Professor Stanisław Gomułka, well known specialist in economy and finance, was our guest of honor. During his lecture concerning effects of the global financial crisis he described different scenarios for the development of the economic situation in Poland.
In the second part of the meeting we presented the ways of managing in difficult market conditions and showed the examples of implemented solutions. Our Partners, Julian Putlitz (Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, Berlin Office) and Krzysztof Badowski (Managing Partner of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, Warsaw Office), presented case studies and described areas and methods of restructuring.
Our conference ended with a debate. Among our panelists were:
- Jacek Chwedoruk, CEO Rothschild Polska,
- Andrzej Klesyk, CEO PZU S.A.,
- Wojciech Kostrzewa, CEO and General Director Grupa ITI,
- Jacek Szwajcowski, CEO Polska Grupa Farmaceutyczna S.A.,
- Maciej Witucki, CEO Telekomunikacja Polska S.A.
Jan Cieński, the Warsaw bureau chief of the Financial Times, was the moderator of the discussion. The debate was a basis for a creative exchange of views on e.g. ways in which companies prepare for difficult market situation and scenarios for the development of economic situation in Poland.
